October 2023 – Opening 18-month post-doc position at the Matière et Systèmes Complexes laboratory, starting 01 January 2024
- The MucOnChip project, which stands for « Lab-on-a-chip Model of Mucociliary Clearance for the Treatment of Inflammatory Lung Diseases, » is dedicated to the development and assessment of a microfluidic device designed to replicate the essential clearance mechanisms within the bronchial region of the human lung. This innovative device will serve as a platform for the evaluation of novel drug nanocarriersto the lungs. The postdoctoral position is supported by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche and is set to commence on January 1, 2024. The job description can be downloaded here.
September 2022 – Internship / Berlin conference
- Ms. Ana Regina Simões Sampaio, an ERASMUS Master 2 student from the University of Porto (Portugal) has started a 5-month internship on « Antioxidant cerium oxide nanoparticles for stroke treatment« .
- Ms. Giusy Finocchiaro, PhD student at the University of Prague (Czech Republic) has started a 3-month internship on « Synthesis and characterization of cerium oxide nanoparticles for nanomedicine applications ».
- J.-F. Berret gave a keynote lecture at the 51st General Assembly of the German Colloid Society in Berlin, Germany, entitled « Magnetic rotational spectroscopy : a novel active microrheology technique for colloids and gels » on Thursday 29 September 2022. The presentation can be uploaded here.
August 2022 – Post-doc position opening at the Matière et Systèmes Complexes laboratory
- The MucOnChip (Lab-on-a-chip Model of Mucociliary Clearance for the Treatment of Inflammatory Lung Diseases) project aims at the fabrication and evaluation of a microfluidic device which mimics the fundamental clearance function in the bronchial region of the lung. The device will be used to screen new drug nanocarriers in relation to the treatment of inflammatory lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and some stages of COVD-19 infection. This advertisement is now outdated and has been superseded by a new one published in October 2023.
OCTOBER 2021 – Post-doc opening position at Matière et Systèmes Complexes laboratory
- The goal of the project « Stroke thrombolysis with r-tPA improved by cerium oxide nanoparticles » is to develop anti-oxidant nanoparticles of cerium oxide coated with innovative polymers and biomolecules for neuronal and vascular protection following stroke. The post-doctoral position is funded from the Agence Nationale de la Recherche for 24 months, starting November 01, 2021. More details can be found here.
SEPTEMBER 2021 – Keynote at European Colloid and Interface Society conference 2021 (Athens, Greece)
- The Keynote lecture will be given at the European Colloid and Interface Society (ECIS) conference in Athens, Greece, entitled « Effects of Inhaled Nanoparticles on a Lung Surfactant Fluid » on Thursday 9 September 2021 at 1.45 pm in Room A (Crowne Plaza Athens City Center). AUGUST 2021 – Publication in Small
- The review paper with first author Dr. Megan S. Lord and entitled « Redox Active Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles: Current Status and Burning Issues » has been published in Small. A version of the manuscript is available on the arXiv website. The paper is an international collaboration between the Université de Paris (France), the Universities of Sydney and Newcastle (Australia) and the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology in Hyderabad (India).
JULY 2021 – Publication in Soft Matter
- The paper with first author Dr. Milad Radiom entitled « Magnetic wire active microrheology of human respiratory mucus » has been accepted for publication in Soft Matter. A version of the manuscript is available on the arXiv website.

- The paper with first author Dr. Evdokia K. Oikonomou and entitled « Cellulose nanocrystals mimicking micron sized fibers to assess the deposition of latex particles on cotton » has been accepted for publication in ACS Applied Polymer Materials. A version of the manuscript is available on the arXiv website. The paper is an international collaboration between the Université de Paris (France) and Solvay.

- Ms. Rebecca Goulancourt, from the Master Biologie – Bioinformatique at the Université de Paris has started her internship on « A mathematical finance inspired approach to study intermittent stochastic viscosity fluctuations in living cells« . This internship is co-advised by Dr. Claude Bostoen from the Polymer Institute Platform DPI (The Netherlands).
- The paper with first author Dr. Geoffroy Goujon entitled « Antioxidant Activity and Toxicity Study of Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles Stabilized with Innovative Functional Copolymers » has been accepted for publication in Advanced Healthcare Materials. - Ms. Alexandra Tiryaeva, from the Master Molecular Nano- and Bio-Photonics for Telecommunications and Biotechnologies at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan has started her internship on the « Biomechanics of Living Cells« .
- Ms. Ameni Dhouib, from the Master Frontiers in Chemistry at the Université de Paris has started her internship on « Antioxidant Nanoparticles for Stroke Treatment« .
- The FAPESP Agency (Brazil) reports on the template-free technique to fabricate micro-size cilia that mimic biological functions. The work was performed at the Université de Paris during Dr. Aline Grein Iankovski stay at the Matière et Systèmes Complexes laboratory and published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry C in 2020. - The Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) publishes the results of the 2020 call for generic projects (AAPG 2020), and our group obtains funding over 4 years for the STRIC-ON project (Stroke Thrombolysis with r-tPA Improved by Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles).
